September 2016 Call Break-down

This month Company 1 responded to 33 calls for service. This month there was 1 dryer fire, 1 EMS Assist, 1 Extrication, 17 Fire Alarms, 1 Fuel Spill, 3 Gas Leaks, 1 Mutual Aid Fire, 2 Oven Fires, 1 Smells of Smoke or Smoke Condition, 1 Transformer Fire, 2 Vehicle Fires, and we were dispatched to 2 Structure Fires. As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.



                            

Beefsteak Dinner

All of the members of Company 1 would like to thank everyone who came out to our first beefsteak dinner. We could not have done this without your support and we are looking forward to having all of you back for other events.

Night Diving

Blood Drive Results

Thanks to all the volunteers who came by we were able to collect 32 pints of blood from 41 donors. Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you again next year.  

                            

2 Entrapments In 3 Hours

Today within roughly 3 hours members from Rescue 1, along with other members of Mahwah Fire and EMS responded to 2 overturned vehicles with entrapments. 

The first entrapment occurred this morning at around 8:15am when Rescue 1 and along with Fire Companies 2, 4, and EMS North were dispatched to the flyover on Route 287 for an overturned truck with a trapped driver.  Members from Rescue 1 removed the windshield and then successfully extricated the driver. Afterword’s the driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment.  Within about 40 minutes all units had returned to quarters.

Later at around 11:30am Rescue 1 and Fire Company 2 responded to Route 17 North for a second overturned vehicle. Once on scene Rescue 1 encountered an SUV that had rolled onto the driver’s side and the driver was trapped within. After stabilizing the vehicle Rescue 1 successfully extricated the driver, who was then transported area hospital for treatment. Within about 30 minutes all units had returned to quarters.

Earlier this week members from Fire Companies 1 and 2 received many thank you letters from our friends at Lenape Meadows that we made during our fire safety demonstration. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again.
