Structure Fire

This evening members from Fire Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to a possible structure fire on Franklin Turnpike after receiving multiple calls of smoke coming from an apartment. After arriving and finding smoke was coming out of the apartment firefighters entered and immediately found the cause, an unattended pan on the stove. Firefighters removed the pan and began to vent the apartment to remove the smoke, shortly after all crew had begun to return to quarters.

Drill Night: Airbags And Cribbing

Tonight members from Company 1 practiced their skills with airbags and cribbing. Busy Afternoon For Mahwah Fire

At around 12:15 this afternoon Fire Companies 1 and 2 responded to Ramapo College for a carbon monoxide alarm. After arriving, fire crews arrived began to vent the building and searched for the source of the alarm. After around and hour crews had begun to return to quarters. Not long after returning Fire Companies 1, 2, 3, and 4 responded to James Brite Circle for a burring smell inside of a home. After arriving Fire Company 1 began to search the home and was able to determine the cause of the smell, shortly after all crews had begun to return to quarters.

June 2017 Call Break-down

This June Company 1 responded to 17 calls for service. This month there was 1 burning smell, 2 dispatched structure fires, 1 dryer fire, 2 EMS assists, 1 extrication, 7 fire alarms, 1 grill fire, and 2 smoke conditions. As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.

Burining Wires

At around 5:30 this evening Fire Companies 1 and 3 responded to Sparrowbush Road for a fallen electrical wire that was sparking. After arriving on scene Companies 1, 3 and also members from the Saddle River Fire Dept. secured the area and began to investigate. After a brief search the downed wire was found along with a small fire at the end of the broken line. Because the wire was still electrified fire crews were unable to extinguish the fire until Orange & Rockland arrived and secured the power. After around 30 minutes Orange & Rockland arrived and quickly secured power and allowed fire crews to extinguish the fire. Not long after all crews had begun to return to quarters.

Funeral Services For Robert LaMontagne

Visitation will be at Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ramsey tomorrow, Wednesday July 26, from 2pm-4pm, and 7pm-9pm. Fire Department services will be conducted during the 7-9 visiting hours. All fire department and emergency service personnel wishing to attend the services please meet at Company 1 no later than 6:30pm in full class A dress uniform.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 27, at The Church of The Presentation in Upper Saddle River at 10am. Robert will be brought to his final resting place at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah following the Mass. All fire department an emergency service personnel wishing to attend the mass and burial please meet at company 1 no later than 9:20am Thursday morning in full class A dress uniform

Dive Team Joint Training Session

Today members from Rescue 1’s dive team along with members from Ringwood and Oradell’s dive teams held a joint training session at the Monksville Reservoir. All three teams spent time working together and practicing their skills.
