Mahwah Fire Department History: Abex Foundry Donation

Posted on April 27, 2016

So how long has the Mahwah Fire Department relied on donations? About 100 years! Here is an example of an important tool purchased through fundraising.

Presentation of an Oxweld acetylene torch and hose plus 200 feet of cable to Ralph Caviello, (right) fireman from Mahwah Fire Co. 1 is made by Morris E. Ruddick, works manager at the Abex Foundry. Abex made the gift to the fire company to help equip the emergency truck acquired by firemen in August. Firemen raised funds to purchase the vehicle by holding dances, pancake breakfasts and other functions. The truck will be used to carry all additional equipment needed during fires and accidents.

Just as they were back then your donations today are just as appreciated by the firefighters.
