January 2017 Call Breakdown

This January Company 1 responded to 25 calls for service. This month there was 1 burning smell, 1 chimney fire, 1 carbon monoxide alarm, 1 EMS assist, 3 electrical issues, 3 gas leaks, 12 fire alarms, 1 mutual aid requests for a fire, 1 smoke condition, and 1 smell of smoke. As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.


Burning Smell In A Home

Shortly before 3 this afternoon Fire Companies 1, 2, 3 and 4 responded to Courtland Trail for a burning smell inside of a home. Once on scene, the first arriving units found a strong burning smell coming from the basement and began searching for the source. After discovering this issue, some smoldering insulation, fire crews overhauled the affected area and secured the issue. After about an hour all crews had began returning to quarters.

Mutual Aid To Allendale

At around 330 this morning members from Company 1 responded to Allendale for a multiple alarm structure fire. Once on scene Company 1 assisted Allendale Fire with bringing the fire under control. Company 1 stayed on scene until around 5am when they were released and returned to quarters.

CO Alarm At The College

At around 4 this afternoon Fire Company 1 responded to Ramapo College for a carbon monoxide alarm in one of the dorms. After arriving Company 1 joined Companies 2, 3, and 4 who had been there for around an hour investigating the cause, and assisted them with venting the dorm. After about an hour all Companies had begun to return to quarters.

Motor Vehicle Accident With An Entrapped Driver

At around 12:45 this morning Rescue 1 and Fire Company 2 responded to North Central Avenue for a single car accident with an entrapped driver. Once on scene Rescue 1 found that the vehicle had struck a utility pole and worked quickly to extricate the driver. After about 30 minutes all units had returned to quarters.  

February 2017 Call Break-down

This February Company 1 responded to 25 calls for service. This month there was 2 boiler issues, 1 burning smell, 3 carbon monoxide alarms, 1 EMS assist, 1 electrical issue, 3 extrications, 4 gas leaks, 7 fire alarms, 1 smoke condition, 1 smell of smoke, and 1 vehicle fire. As always, the volunteer members of Company 1 are ready to respond 24 hours a day 7 days week.


Freon Leak

At around 5am this morning Fire Companies 1, 2, and 3 responded to Franklin Turnpike for a freon leak. Once on scene Fire crews found that a line had ruptured and was leaking freon. After working quickly to secure the leak crews vented affected area and monitored the situation. After approximately 2 hours fire crews had started returning to quarters. 

Stag Hill Brush Fire

At around 5:15 tonight Fire Company 1 along with Companies 2 and 5 responded to Stag Hill Road for a brush fire. Once on scene Members from companies 1, 2, 5, Ramsey, Hillburn and Sloatsburg NY hiked into the woods with hose lines and tools to fight the blaze, which took approximately 2 hours to extinguish and overall.
